Scum is a card game published by Salmon's LLC. It uses Apple's Game Center (GameKit) and iCloud (CloudKit) services to provide online multiplayer. We collect only the limited data needed to make multiplayer work, we do not use advertising or third-party tracking, and we never sell or share your data. This policy explains exactly what is collected, why, where it is stored, and how you can have it deleted.
When you are signed in to Game Center, the app stores the following in Apple's CloudKit service (in a database associated with the app that other players and we can read, so that multiplayer discovery works). Your online presence is published whenever the app is open and you are signed in to Game Center — you do not have to start or join a game for this to happen:
Game Center itself also provides your display name and player ID to enable multiplayer; that exchange is handled by Apple's GameKit framework and governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
On-device data: your game scores, win/loss records, and player profile are stored locally on your device (in app storage) and are not transmitted to us or to Apple's CloudKit service.
The data above is used only to operate the game's online features — showing which players are online, and letting players find and join each other's game rooms. It is not used for advertising, marketing, profiling, or analytics.
We do not collect your real name, email address, phone number, precise or coarse location, contacts, photos, or payment information. We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not sell or share any data with third parties.
Online presence and room data are stored on Apple's iCloud/CloudKit servers, which may be located in the United States or other countries outside your country of residence (including outside Canada and the Province of Quebec). By using the online features you understand that this information may be processed on Apple's servers in those locations. Apple's handling of this data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Game rooms are created only when you host a public room. The app removes the room record when the game starts or when you cancel. If the app closes before that happens — for example, it is force-quit or loses connectivity while you are waiting — the record can remain on Apple's CloudKit servers. Rooms stop being shown to other players about five minutes after they are created, but they are not removed automatically; contact us if you would like one deleted.
Online presence records are deleted when you leave the app or sign out of Game Center. Deletion is best-effort: if it cannot complete at that moment — for example, if your device is offline — the record may remain, and you appear offline to other players about two minutes later. It is replaced the next time you sign in.
On-device data (scores, profile) is removed when you delete the app from your device. Deleting the app does not remove any presence or room records already stored on CloudKit.
You can request deletion of any online presence or room data associated with your Game Center account at any time by contacting us at scumsupport@icloud.com. Your presence is published whenever the app is open and you are signed in to Game Center; to stop it, sign out of Game Center.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to withdraw consent for its collection. Residents of the United States (including California) and Canada (including Quebec) may exercise these rights by contacting us at scumsupport@icloud.com. We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
Scum is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. In-game chat is limited to a fixed set of predefined emoji reactions — there is no free-text chat between players. A player who creates a game can give it a name, and that name is shown to the other players in that match and appears in their turn notifications; because games can be matched with players you do not know, this is the one place where text written by another player can appear. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us at scumsupport@icloud.com and we will delete it.
The app relies on Apple Game Center and Apple CloudKit to provide online play. These services are operated by Apple and governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not integrate any other third-party services.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
